🚀 Giveaway: win a copy of MAKE
Refer your friends and get a chance to win a digital copy of the book!
As announced, I would reveal the winner today. But the thing is that one of my fears, or worries, actually came true. Only one person registered for the giveaway but got zero referrals. Whether this is an issue with the tool I used (as I said, the UX wasn’t the best) or just a lack of reach of my newsletter, I can’t say.
Below you can see the results. The top row shows the referees: 4, where 3 are my own accounts that I used for testing. And below you can see the subscribers: 2, all of them are accounts of mine to test the campaign.
But, oh well. Such is life. You win some, you lose some. “Next time’s the charm”. Or not, we’ll see.
I’m giving out a copy of MAKE: The Indie Maker Handbook to a lucky person that refers someone to One Person Business. Click the button below to participate.
In the spirit of helping out fellow indie makers, and hopefully reaching a wider audience, I’ve decided to do a giveaway! Let me explain how we got here.
Nic, from SubShark, reached out to me recently asking me if I would like to try out the tool he is building to create referral campaigns within Substack. And I couldn’t say no. I’ve wanted to do something of the like for a while, but Substack still doesn’t have that functionality. So this was a no-brainer for me.
Given that Substack still doesn’t make it easier to build external tools that integrate with it, the way to use this referring mechanism might look a bit odd for most of you. But it does work, and that’s the most essential part. Also, this tool is still in its early stages, and in order to improve it someone needs to do some beta testing, am I right? I’m happy to support people willing to build new things. Anyway, onwards to the giveaway.
Here’s the gist: you recommend friends to this newsletter. The more people you recommend, the higher the chances of winning the prize. What’s the prize? Good thing you asked:
Raffle ticket to win a copy of MAKE: The Indie Maker Handbook
For each person you recommend, you get a raffle ticket. At the end of the giveaway, I’m going to randomly select someone and the winner gets a copy of Make, the book by Peter Levels that teaches you all you need to know on how to bootstrap and launch a successful project. So, the more people you recommend, the better the chances of winning the book!
Free lifetime paid subscription to One Person Business
Although this newsletter is free, I do have expectations to have a paid tier at some point. But if you recommend just one person to the newsletter, you’ll get a lifetime pass to the newsletter, even if it becomes a paid one!
Given that, what are the rules? They’re very simple:
The giveaway runs until the 15th of July, at midnight;
The winner will be announced on the 16ht of July;
You need to be subscribed directly to One Person Business at the time of the raffle in order to be eligible;
You need to be subscribed with a valid email, or else I won’t be able to send you a copy of the book;
You must use Subshark’s tool to refer people. Do not refer them directly as I have no way of tracking that.
As I explained before, the way you can participate is a bit odd. But I’m willing to take the risk of lower participation for the sake of trying something new. So, in order to refer people you’ll have to:
Sign up here with your email: https://subshark.io/refer/klrgvdp4;
You’ll get your own referral link;
Send the link to your friends, and have them sign-up through that link.
I’ll then be able to follow up with every new sign-up and add them manually to my subscriber list. At the end of the giveaway, I’ll gather all the referrals, randomly select the winner and also give everyone who participated a free lifetime paid subscription.
That’s it. Leave a comment here, or reach out to me directly if you have any questions, and let the games begin!
If you like One Person Business, please do ”Add to address book”, reply or leave a comment. These help my emails land in your inbox, and I would love to hear from you.
Until next time - Guilherme
